17th December, at 4pm, Committee Room 6 The Launch of the APPMG's Fourth Report: "The Delivery of Malaria Mechanisms; the Key to Success in a Time of Real Hope" Dr John Rumanu, Director Preventative Medicine, MInistry of Health. Government of Southern Sudan,gave a presentation on the issues surrounding NTD control/elimination, from the perspective of a country undergoing post -emergeny reconstruction. Dr Jan Kolaczinski, Malaria Specialist with the Malaria Consortium, gave a presentation on Neglected Tropical Diseases. He outlined the challenges that the Consortium are facing in trying to establish the extent of the problem and bring help to NTD suffers in S Sudan. 14th November 2008
27th October, 4pm in Committee Room 16, An Evaluation, "Shrinking the Map of Malaria" Professor Sir Richard Feachem, Professor of Global Health University of California San Francisco and Berkeley. Dr Chris Drakeley, LSHTM, gave a presentation on the importance of Monitoring the Elimination of Malaria. An excerpt from the aclaimed film "Zambezi", a journey down the Zanmbezi river. It showed how the crew dealt with many challenges to gain access to remote communities where drugs and nets were distributed. 16th July, 4pm, Committee Room 5 The Annual General Meeting This will be followed at 4.15pm by: Professor Robert Sinden, Imperial College, London Steps towards Elimination the reduction of the reproduction of the mosquito Professor Francis Amaswa, ex Director General of the National Health Services in Uganda and Executive Secretary of the Global Work Force Alliance Will talk about the challenges and opportunities of delivery of control measures in health systems in low income countries in Africa. Professor Chris Whitty, London School of Economics will give an assessment of the present global position 16th July 2008
